Sairat film was released on 29th April 2016 while its music was released on 6th April 2016. Sairat depicted a true romantic love story along with Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru as main lead couple. The film is directed by Nagraj Manjule and is produced by Nagraj Manjule, Nitin Keni, and Nikhil Sane with the banner of Zee Studios and Aatpat Production. Sairat broke all the record and moved much higher than the previous hit film of Marathi i.e. Natsamrat. Sairat was the first film of Marathi cinema to cross a box office collection of more than Rs. 50 Cr.
The film is planned to be relaunched in many other languages like Tamil. Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujrati and Hindi. Rockline Venkatesh got the right to remake the film in four southern languages. The film crossed more than Rs. 100 Crores worldwide and its a matter of proud for Marathi film industry.
The plot of the film is a unique one which impressed people all across the world. The crux of the story is based on love story if a low caste boy and daughter if his high caste landlord. The couple faced a bulk of challenges and obstacles in their love story before they left the city.

The film collected an amount of Rs. 25.50 Cr. in its first week of release and along with that it collected around Rs. 24.66 Cr. in its second week of release. Followed by that Rs. 16 Cr. in its third week and Rs. 15 Cr. in its fourth week. The film has crossed a collection of more than Rs. 100 with is worldwide collection.
