Today in the early hours the moment for pride came for all the Indians when India’s daughter Sakshi Malik made India proud in Rio Olympic Game 2016 with a victory of a bronze medal in wrestling under 58kg category after beating Aisiluu Tynybekova 8-5 in bronze medal bout. The match was thrilling and her performance was outstanding. Sakshi Malik fought back from 0-5 down in order to get 8-5 in her favour. When there were just a few second left on the clock, she produced a three-point move to seal the bout and opened India’s account at Rio 2016 Olympics with a bronze medal.

Sakshi Malik was the one who grabbed an initial success for India at Rio 2016 Olympic. Sakshi Malik won a bronze medal in the 58-kg category of Women’s Freestyle Wrestling. Sakshi Malik turned out to be an ideal for every Indian as she made history as she is the first women wrestler from India who charms at Olympic level with a bronze medal. This is not the just which makes her remarkable as she is the fourth female athlete from the country to climb to the podium at the biggest sporting event in the whole world. Sakshi has won India’s fifth wrestling medal in the Olympic Games. And the bronze medal which Sakshi Malik has grabbed is the 25th Medal for India in Olympic Games.
Sakshi Malik was born on 3rd September 1992 in Rohtak Haryana. Her father Mr Sudesh supported her and encouraged her in her unusual career choice also the whole India gives a warm thank to her father. Sakshi Malik is a 23-year-old girl who belongs from Mokhra village, she began her training in wrestling when she was off just 12-year-old. She was trained under the guidance of Ishwar Dahiya at an Akhara in Chotu Ram Stadium. She grew up in a region where she fought with many boys as there was an orthodox thinking of people that sport is “not for girls”.
Sakshi Malik conquered many heights in her career and made India and her parents proud at many steps. As in the year 2010 when she was just of 18 years, she achieved the victory at junior-level competitions. She won a Bronze at 2010 Junior World Championship in the 59-kg category. After that, in the year 2014, she tasted the victory at international level with a Gold medal at Dave Schultz International Wrestling Tournament in the 60-kg category. Also in 2014 she scratched out a silver medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with her utmost hard work.
After that, in the year 2016, she was honoured with Silver medal at Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Doha.
On her victory in 2014 Commonwealth Games Sakshi stated:
“My silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games is my personal favourite. Although I displayed some aggressive wrestling at the 2015 Asian Championships and clinched a bronze, my bout at Glasgow was more challenging.”
After that, in she won Bronze Medal at the Spanish Grand Prix in the 60kg-category and today she made an epic moment for us all by achieving a Bronze Medal at Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
