After much speculation, tech magnet Apple has finally announced iOS 9 on June 9, 2015 at the much awaited Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), held in San Francisco.
Craig Federghi, who is the software chief of Apple, showed the upgrades that will feature in iOS 9.
The OS update will allow users to just double up their work and productivity on iPads, by maximizing the screen size. While this feature was available for Android devices, this is a new for Apple.
Among the other features, the Notes app has been updated, while a News app will be added to the home screen, helping users to enjoy all stories without relying on many apps.
The update, according to Apple, will also better the battery life, thanks to the smart use of the ambient light and proximity sensors, which will detect the device when facing down the surface and avoid turning-on of the screen. Check all the features at the official website here.
The iOS 9 will have more easy and small upgrades, which will not eat up the memory of the devices. On the security front, the touch enabled devices, iPad and iPhone will have six digit pass-code as compared to four earlier.
For the usage, you will get good and intelligent suggestions for what you want to do, based on the apps you already use. The new iOS 9 will also be available for old devices, including iPhone 4s.
For those transferring from Android to iOS, they can use the Move app available on the Apple Store for transferring message history, contacts, and photos from Android to Apple.
The official release date for iOS 9 is awaited.
