NEET which stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is basically an entrance examination in India being held every year for those who wants and wishes to study any graduate medical courses (MBBS), many Dental courses (BDS) or postgraduate courses like (MD/MS) in government or any private medical college in India.

NEET-UG (Undergraduate) for MBBS and BDS courses, will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The latest orders which make the exam of NEET replaced the AIPMT (All India pre-Medical Exam) and all individual MBBS exams which are being conducted individually by States or colleges themselves. NEET was basically proposed initially by Government of India and was held for the very first time on 5th May 2013 for the students seeking admission for both UG and PG medicine, it was even got later deferred by CBSE & Medical Council of India by a year.

It has already been opposed so many times by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,Gujarat, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu very strongly against it, the reason proposed was the syllabus which was proposed by MCI and their state syllabi. Even after many hurdles and clashes of court’s decisions.

On 11 April 2016, it was given as a statement from a Five-judge constitution bench, who recalled the earlier verdict and allowed the central government and MCI to implement this common entrance test till next decision comes over this matter.


This year the first phase of NEET,which is known as the APIMT and was held on the 1st May 2016, and would be considered as the first phase of the NEET.

Those who have cleared the first phase will be provided with the next step to clear the second stage of exam of NEET 2016. The second exam was held on 24th July 2016.
