Charleston church shooting: Shootout suspect in custody

The mass murder that happened as a result of a shootout in Charleston on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, has pulled the city to a state of shock.

As per reports, the suspect Dylan Roof had sat with the Bible Study group before he opened fire at them. Reports suggest that the suspect had even prayed with this group minutes before he started the havoc in the church.

As per Police Officials, Dylan Roof killed nine people inside the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, near the heart of Charleston’s tourist district.

Eight of them died on the spot, and the remaining one took the last breath at a hospital. The victims include six women and three men, and among them is church’s politically active pastor, the Rev. Clementa Pinckney.

Police arrested Dylan Roof on Thursday, and he is reportedly having an unsettled personal life and a recent history of anti-black views. As per victim statements, he has uttered words against African Americans during the time of the shoot out.

As per CNN, the suspect’s father had recently bought Dylan a .45 caliber gun in April as a gift for his 21st birthday.

But Roof’s grandfather told that the family gave him money, and they have no idea what he did with it. Police are now searching more about Roof, and they are trying to determine whether he has any connections with hate groups.

In the meantime, at Morris Brown A.M.E. Church, people irrespective of cast and creed gathered together and proclaimed that a racist gunman is not capable to divide a community which is already been tested by the Police shooting which happened in April against an unarmed African-American Walter Scott.
