Ganesh Chaturthi is one of that auspicious occasion which was celebrated by the country people with full joy and love. Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated as Lord Ganesha’s birthday every year. People also called it as Vinayak Chaturthi and Ganeshotsav. There are numbers of idols to be seen of Lord Ganesha during the celebration. Lord Ganesha called to be the lord of health and wealth. People celebrate the occasion with full enthusiasm in many parts of the country. According to the Hindu calendar, the Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the fourth day at half of Bhadrapad.

People takes Lord Ganesha’s idol to their house by chanting mantras and dancing around. There is a new joy and hope in people heart while taking Ganpati Ji to their houses. People chants pray and mantras for 10 days and worshipped the idol. On the eleventh day, the idol is taken back to the sea or river from the local streets. People dance and chants mantras around the idol. The idol then immersed in the sea which had a hope behind that Lord Ganesha takes all the sorrows of his devotees with him. Preparations for the festival starts three or four moths before. People feels curious to get Lord Ganesha to  their house. They clean their house and prepare for the celebration. The festival is celebrated mostly in Maharashtra and major parts of south India.

People also perform many activities and plays during the celebration. The joy of celebration can see at many places and temples. The temples are decorated beautifully. People also decorated their house. There are many idols of Lord Ganesha some are huge as of 20ft. The enthusiasm in people for the festival make it huge. This year the idol sthapna will be done on 5th of September. The Ganesh Chaturthi will begin from 18:54 from 4th September and ends at 21:09 on 5th September 2016. Visarjan will be taken place on 16th September 2016. The chaturdashi will start from 05:27 on 15th September and ends at 03:15 on 16th September 2016. The fast date will also start from 5th September 2016.

People says not to see the moon on Ganesh Chaturthi as it called to be a bad sign.
