Google upgraded Chromecast launched in India at Rs 3,399


Google launched a new version of its Internet streaming device Chromecast in India today. The new device is available for Rs 3,399.

The technology giant also introduced Chromecast Audio for the same price in the country. The Chromecast Audio was launched in the US last year.

Google makes online life easy and fast with the upgraded technology. Now it has taken over the television sets with its Chromecast; a streaming dongle which received a a colorful makeover.

According to company officials, the Chromecast is expected to be faster and easier with the updated app and fresh content and sleek look of the device. And best of all, users can now add Youtube and Netflix to their television sets with the upgraded Chromecast.

The Chromecast audio can stream and control podcasts, music and radio channels when plugged into the speakers through the WiFi connectivity. The previous version of Chromecast was launched last year in India.

Chromecast is available in 31 countries and approximately 20 million users globally. The company has partnered with Hooq, Saavn, YuppTV, Ditto and Hungama in India.

Teewe is another Internet streaming device sold in the country.

Though the sales of these internet streaming devices are currently low, it is expected to increase as on-demand video services such as Netflix become more popular throughout the region.

The company offers a six-month free subscription for Hooq and Saavn.

Chromecast will also allow children to play games such as AngryBirds on their television sets using smartphones as the controller.

Chromecast is a range of digital media players developed by Google. Their design resembles a small dongles, play audio/video content on a high-definition television or home audio system by directly streaming it via Wi-Fi from the Internet or a local network.
