The Hindi movie “Ki and Ka”, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor in lead roles hits the theatres today.
The film attempts to dispel gender stereotypes. The film follows a young married couple challenging the gender roles of men and women entrusted by the society.
The fact that, R Balki has directed some great films like ‘Cheeni Kum,’ ‘Engligh Vinglish’ and ‘Paa,’ the critics are keen to know what he has in store for the audience this time.
With this movie, Bollywood has managed to show a man willing to be at home and perform the daily household chores that a woman in a family is expected to do. Roles and duties are detrimental only when they are imposed. If a couple is happy with their arrangement at home and work, nobody has the right to interfere.
“Ki & Ka” feature the shift between the traditional system of marriage through a conventional marriage of a homemaker husband and a bread earner wife.

Though, it is evident from the trailer and the promotional tours that Kia (Kareena’s character name) and Kabir (Arjun’s name in the film) managed to impress the audience with the new concept of exchanged responsibilities, but only time will tell if the film does justice to the idea.
Watch trailer video:
Will Ka and Ki be able to put across the social message of role reversal interestingly? Will the onscreen chemistry between Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor woe the viewers? It is yet to be seen.
All is good at the beginning where Ka is happy making breakfast for Ki and her mother and Ki pitches smart advertising campaigns and climbs the corporate hierarchy.
The foundation of their marriage is laid on the agreement that Kia, who doesn’t want to be a man’s `support system,’, meets the sentimental Kabir, who doesn’t aspire to be like his billionaire builder father, instead intends to be like his homemaker mother.
Since there are no other movie releases this week, the first day collections are expected to be good. The collections details shall be updated here soon.

Tweets about ki and ka
She, a marketing analyst and he, a happy homemaker ultimately fall into the ugly trap of jealousy blurring the roles they had set for each other. Ka, a highly confused man, mocked by the title ‘nikamma’ adorns his wrist with a mangal sutra and hosts kitty parties. He cleans, cooks care for her, and she earns and yells at him.
With time, Ka becomes a gossip scoop, a hero for women commercials and women-centric seminars.
An interesting idea with an inconsistent plot, Yet, Ki and Ka is worth a watch because it shows nothing wrong with the man wearing the apron and the women wearing her ambition.
