Actress Mary Ellen Trainor, who was seen in “Lethal Weapon”, has died on May 20, 2015. The known philanthropist was 62.
Kathleen Kennedy, who is the president of Lucasfilm, confirmed on June 8, 2015 that the actress passed away on May 20, at her home in Montecito, California.
Mary Ellen Trainor started off her career in the film industry as an assistant to producer and worked on many movies, including one of Steven Spielberg in the same role.
Later on, she went on and married director Robert Zemeckis, who had was also a part of “1941”, directed by Steven Spielberg.
After their marriage in 1980, Trainor was cast by her husband in the movie “Romancing the Stone”. He continued to work in cameos for a number of films, mostly that of Robert Zemeckis. She was seen in character roles in films like “Forrest Gump”.
However, her most known and memorable role was that of a police psychiatrist that she played in various parts of “Lethal Weapon”. She was also seen in “The Goonies” as the mother of two central characters.
A report of USA Today mentioned that Kennedy had released a statement and mentioned that she and Mary had been close since college. She also mentioned how Mary had introduced her to Steven Spielberg.
Trainor is survived by one child, Alex Zemeckis. She had separated from her husband in 2000. Reports suggested that a memorial service will be conducted in Montecito on June 19. 2015.
