The recent release Mohenjo Daro has failed to impress the audience which was expected by the makers of the film. The movie was all about the Mohenjo Daro city of Indus Valley Civilization. As Mohenjo Daro is the first film which depicts the beauty of the Indus Valley Civilization it was expected that it will capture a huge business report but because of the tough competition of the Rustom of Akshay Kumar, it’s failed to bang the box office. The story of the film was penned and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker who is known for his history based movies like Laggan and Jhodha Akbar. Mohenjo Daro was made in a high budget of 120 Cr and it fails to even have its budget amount. The film was produced by Sidharth Roy Kapoor and Sunita Gowariker.
Mohenjo Daro was released on 12th August 2016 with Rustom which affected the film in a huge manner which results in the low income of the film. For the main lead Makers of the film featured the dance icon of India Hrithik Roshan and a new face in the Bollywood industry Pooja Hegde. The chemistry between Pooja and Hrithik was the only reason of this much of buzz of the film. The movie showed the lifestyle of that era of the people of Mohenjo Daro city. The first half of the film was not that much good but the second half of the film is up to the mark and the climax end with a bang on the performance of Hrithik and Pooja.
The initial days of the film were as per the expectations of the makers, as Mohenjo Daro started its box office journey with a good collection of 8.87 Cr and at the end of the weekend movie got positive comments from the audience with a total collection of around 30 Cr at the domestic box office. The movie started facing downfall in their occupancy rate from the 5th day of the film. At the end of the first weekend, the movie captured an income of around 46 Cr.
The second week was below average because movie lost it all hold over the audience, the screen count of the film was also showed a huge downfall and at the end of the second-weekend movie captured an average income of 6.26 Cr. Today movie completed its two weeks run at the box office with very low hype. Mohenjo Daro captured a good response from the overseas audience as compared to the domestic box office. After spending 10 days at the overseas box office it collected the collection of 26.20 Cr.
As per the response of the audience towards the film, Mohenjo Daro will not even enter in the 100 Cr club at the domestic box office. Today one of the most awaited films has also released A Flying Jatt which has affected the movie in a huge manner.
