The famous trade analyst Komal Mehta stated “Made on a lavish budget of Rs. 140 crore, which includes print and advertising cost of Rs. 18-20 crore, Hrithik’s film has lost quite a bit for failing to connect with the audience. Right from the trailer to the music, Mohenjo Daro didn’t quite establish a rapport with its audience.”
Rumors have that the satellite rights of the film was sold to Star for some 40 crore, but they might now lose more than half of their investment in this deal. Even T-Series, which is the music association partner of the film, had a deal of 10 crore is now projected to lose almost 9 crore due to massive loss of collection of the film.

The production house of the film, UTV Motion Pictures is known for saving up the distribution share by distributing the film themselves. But this time around they decided to make an exception and sold the films distributorship in certain areas, which led to further loss of the film. Mohenjo daro, that grossed a total of 84.92 crore, in which 57.42 crore being the domestic figure and 27.50 being the international collection of the film.

The film is however suffered a huge loss of around 85-90 crore as total budget minus total earning of the film amount to a disastrous figure of more than 45 crore, along with that 30 crore loss on the Star satellite rights distribution deal and around 9 crore loss in the T-series deal. The film with such big star cast and a lot of elements of being a blockbuster was never expected to go down like such a colossal disaster. This is it for now, stay tuned for further updates.
