Nawazuddin Siddiqui Starring “Raman Raghav 2.0” Movie Review Rating Public Response Box Office Collection

This Indian thriller is all set to release on June 24, this year. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, this story is all about the life of the notorious serial killer Raman Raghav, who was in operation in Mumbai during the mid 1960’s.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of ‘Raman Raghav ‘ in the movie and Vicky Kaushal plays the role of a cop. This is written by Anurag kashyap and Vasan Bala, music by Ram Sampath and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Montena under the banner of Phantom Films. It si distributed by Reliance Entertainment.

This 3.5 crore budget movie is of around 127 minutes, that is, 2 hours 7 minutes. This film also got premiered at the CANNES DIRECTORS’ FORTNIGHT, raising hopes of the audience, of being a huge success, and doing well at the box office. Raman Raghav got a positive response there. Nawazuddin also received a standing ovation post the screening. It also got premiered at the 2016Sydney Festival.

Anurag Kashyap revealed two teaser posters on 24 April,2016 via twitter. And the next day (25 April,2016)revealed the first look , showing Nawazuddin in front of red eyes. One more poster got released on May1 showcasing both the leads. Firt teaser video was released on 6 May, 2016, of 46 seconds. The official theatrical trailer was launched on 10 May,2016. IMDb has rated the story as 7.8 on a scale of 10. The movies got mixed reviews on whole.

Hollywod Reporter mentioned that variety and depth of the female characters is missing, which is negative. Wendy Ide of Screen International quoted that it is a bloodthirsty thriller having rare mix of adrenalise energy and jangling music but lacked Man hunter style battle of wits.

Ram Sampath got lots of appraisals for the movie soundtrack and such great music. The song ‘Qatl-e-aam’ rejoice one million views on You Tube.

As per the news, The Censor Board have demanded 6 cuts to the movie , because of foul language and ugly violent scenes, whereas Anurag Kashyap is not in a mood to fulfil their demands and his reached out to the Tribunal. They had to complete this movie in 20 days because of the budget. Media also stated that Anurag Kashyap made the film to compensate the loss of Bombay Velvet.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui also fell midst the shoots, as he had to shoot at unhygienic locations, and he also stated that shooting for this film was mentally draining for me.He also mentioned that the character of Raman Raghav emptied him from within. Shooting for the film did take a toll on him and his health , particularly, but he gives all the credits to Anurag Kashyap for his supportive and creative guidance, calling him the ship. Vicky Kaushal also had to undergo dehydration and be lean to begin shooting for the film.

After reading mixed reviews and hearing mixed responses, we can now only wait for the release date to experience this psychotic thriller.
