OnePlus 5

OnePlus is planning on launching their next flagship smartphone namely OnePlus 5 sometime this year. Quite naturally, there are numerous leaks and speculations regarding the device that are already taking the rounds. In the latest, leaked renders of the upcoming smartphone by OnePlus — OnePlus 5 is revealed to come equipped with a dual camera set-up on the back of the device.

While this isn’t a new feature when it comes to Android-enabled smartphones as there are many other smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi, LG, and Oppo that have already released products with this feature, it sure is a new addition to the OnePlus family.

Moreover, given that even Apple has been rumored to be working on iPhone 8 with a dual camera setup, it will be interesting to see the two brands battle for the consumer’s attention.

Apart from that, the images leaked by the render also reveal the design of the smartphone. It is discovered that the upcoming OnePlus 5 smartphone packs a great amount of resemblance with its previous OnePlus 3T (Midnight Black) variant. The device in question is shown to be featuring brushed aluminum design along with curved edges — much like the latter.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the recently-leaked render also further confirms that the device will come with a fingerprint sensor too. However, the company appears to have decided to stick to the back of the device as far as the position of the fingerprint reader is concerned.

It is worthy to note that the company still hasn’t issued any official statement regarding the device yet. Therefore, readers are advised to take the information with a pinch of salt.

Previously, it was reported by India Today that the smartphone will be called OnePlus 5 instead of OnePlus 4. Since the 2017 OnePlus flagship smartphone will be serving as the successor to OnePlus 3, it should ideally be called OnePlus 4. However, the device was apparently spotted on a Chinese regulation website as carrying the codename: A5000, thereby suggesting that the device might be called OnePlus 5.

Other specifications that the OnePlus 5 smartphone is rumored to by carrying are as follows: According to what BGR has to say, OnePlus 5 smartphone is expected to pack a 5.5-inch display with 2K resolution and will further be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset. The device is expected to offer either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and will come packed with a 3,000mAh battery.

As far as the release date of the OnePlus 5 smartphone is concerned, several reports indicate that the OnePlus 5 smartphone will be launched in Q2 of 2017.
