India’s dream of claiming the medals is looking too far as in the first week of Rio Olympics, Indians athletes failed to grab any medal. And, now India’s mixed double pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna also failed to reach the final after they lost the semifinal match against the USA’s Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram by 6-2 2-6 3-10 on Saturday.

This duo of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna was expected to do exceptionally well at the Rio 2016 Olympics. But expectations of Indian fans got crushed late night on Saturday, after their devastating loss. This loss came as a surprise to many people as the pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna was dominating the firsts half of the match and especially Bopanna as he was playing beautifully and with some big serves and producing some mesmerizing trick shots. Sania also supported him with strong forehands.

Although, after the first set ended, the pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna found the counter attacking of Venus William and Rajeev Ram, too hot to handle. Ram and Venus made a strong comeback in the second set and left the Indian duo to re-think their strategy. It was then, that Sania and Bopanna lost their concentration, which actually cost them the match.

After that, it only took few minutes for Ram and Venus to start celebrating their win as they both jumped, like they were the two happiest people on the planet. Now, Sania and Bopanna are left with the last chance in the broze medal match-up, to give India its first medal in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
