Shahid Afridi resigns; Sarfraz Ahmed is new Pakistan T20 captain

Pakistan who faced unexpected defeats in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup is now in a path of revival. Head Coach Waqar Younis and Skipper Shahid Afridi has resigned from respective posts after the disappointing performance.

Shahid Afridi has expressed his interest to play in the team, but he will be no longer the captain of the side. According to latest updates, 28-year-old Sarfraz Ahmed has been named the captain for the country’s T20 side. PCB made this decision after a crucial meeting conducted on April 05, 2016.

The name of head coach will be finalized in the coming days. After the new decision, Sarfraz told that he is so happy to as PCB trusted his ability to lead the nation. He also made it clear that the new job is quite challenging, but it is the highest privilege a cricketer will get in his career.

Sarfraz Ahmed also added that he do not have any future strategies as of now, but will sit with PCB soon to formulate one. The new captain also assured that he will try to play his natural game regardless of the situation and number in which he bats.

Sarfraz Ahmed is considered to be a very silent person, and almost all times, he wishes to talk with his bat rather than with his tongue.

Resignation of Shahid Afridi is considered as the end of an era in Pakistan Cricket. The dashing cricketer has ruled the hearts of cricket lovers for almost two decades. Afridi who was first shot to lime light with his 37 ball century, later transformed himself as a capable all rounder.

Even though, Afridi resigned his captaincy post, everybody hopes to see him in the playing eleven. If he plays, then the ‘Boom Boom’ call from the crowd will once again rule the cricket grounds.
