Bollywood film “Singh Is Bling” released amidst much fanfare on October 2, 2015. Can the Akshay Kumar starrer pass the weekend test?
Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Kay Kay Menon, Amy Jackson and Lara Dutta in supporting roles.
The story revolves around ‘Raftar Singh’, character played by Kumar, who is on a roller coaster ride. Jackson plays his love interest in the film
The movie has been directed by Prabhu Deva, who had a bad innings last with “Action Jackson” getting slammed by critics and audiences alike.
“Singh Is Bling” has been produced by Kumar along with Ashvini Yardi and is touted for being a commercial potboiler, which the director is known for.
Movie analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first days collections as Rs 20.67 crore.

The screen count of “Singh Is Bling is estimated to be around 3,500, which is pretty decent. Given that it is releasing on a long weekend and there is no major release around, the collections should be good.
The only film that’s releasing this weekend is “Talvar”, which has been garnering rave reviews but has no big star.

The 1st day collections of “Singh Is Bling” should be around 25-35 crores, although Kumar’s last release “Brothers” didn’t fare as good as expected.
So far, the reviews of the film have been average to poor, which surely will have an impact on the collections.
Kumar’s needs a hit desperately with this one as both “Brothers” and “Gabbar is Back” didn’t perform high at the box office. He also doesn’t have a release next year, which is expected to be “Airlift”.
