The Tamil fantasy film “Puli” released on October 1, 2015, amidst plenty of hype and excitement.
Touted among the biggest release of this year, “Puli” stars Vijay in the lead role, while yesteryear actress Sridevi plays the antagonist.
The movie also stars Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani along with Sudeep.
Reportedly, the budget of “Puli” is touted to be Rs 118 crore, making it among the expensive movies churned by Tamil film industry this year.
The screen count of “Puli” is 400+ Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film, however, suffered a setback for the fact that the release was delayed, which is likely to have a big impact on the 1st day collections.
The release was delayed mainly in all the three states, as the company Qube, which was supposed to give clearance to theatres delayed the same over clearance of dues.
The producers couldn’t pay the dues as there was a raid by IT officials before a day of release.
Audience first day first show reaction:
All the morning shows of the film had to be cancelled on October 1, but Vijay came in for the rescue and got the amounts cleared, following which the shows started.
The 1st day collections of “Puli” are not yet confirmed, but it is not likely to get the numbers as expected.
Also, the film was touted to be the next “Bahubali”, but the reviews for now has been rather average, with the story being slashed by many.
Can Vijay’s box office power pull the audiences?
