Torrentz.eu Gets A Clone After Shut Down, Named Torrentz2.eu

On Friday, we reported that after Kickass torrent, Torrentz.eu also called it quits and was shut down. But, now the closed site has a clone, which appeared on the internet as soon as the site stopped functioning. This clone website is called Torrentz2.eu. As soon as you open this site, the message that appears on the home page of this mirror website pays homage to the original Torrentz. The message on the website states “Torrentz2.eu is a clone of Torrentz, a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines.” This clone works exactly like the original one and is also keeping its users happy.

Torrentz.eu which was in service since 2003, shocked the whole community by bringing about, such abrupt end to its working. Final message after Torrentz.eu shut down, read as “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.” But, if you go to the website now you’d be welcomed with the message “Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines,” mind the word “was” in the message. Although, the founders of the website have declined to comment on this.

Last month, when Kickass torrent was taken down, its mirror website also came up within days. Also, the tight-knit community of KAT made another website called Karcr.co, which was also shut down later in the same week in which it originated. Although this website didn’t use to host any of the torrents. Most of the mirrors including the famous Kat.am are just wrappers around other services. So the original website is nowhere to be seen. In fact, Kat.am and several other mirrors rely on the searches of another torrent giant The Pirate Bay. In the past year, we saw heavy crackdown on several content hosting websites.

Two of the biggest content distributors on torrent EZTV and YIFY were also shut down abruptly in 2015. This year we saw the end of Kickass torrent, Torrentz.eu and Solar movie. Does this mark the end of the era of content hosting websites? or will these hosting giants bounce back to their glory? We guess that remains to be seen. This is it for now, stay tuned for further updates.
