As the monsoon hits the northern region of India it also brings chaos and destruction with itself. On Friday, when people were sleeping in their houses heavy rainfall triggered landslips and floods in Pithoragarh and Chamooli districts of Uttrakhand.
According to the reports that are coming from the Uttrakhand is that several buried in sleep when their own house collapsed on them.
Rescue missions are going on to save the people in this hour of stress.
Till now 11 people are already dead and 17 are still missing. 3 people who were recovered from the rescue mission are severely injured and taken to the nearby hospital in Uttrakhand’s district Pithoragarh with the helicopter.
In Chamoli district 3 person died in heavy rainfall and landslides and 6 are still missing, according to the State disaster management.
Heavy rainfall is not only causing damage to life but also the property. Up till now 18 houses, 2 bridges, and several roads have been damaged.
There are almost 700 people which are affected by the flash floods and 110 houses are damaged along with 34 cattle heads.
While teams of NDRF, State Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Management, and ITBP have been sent to the Uttrakhand’s district of Pithoragarh and Chamoli for rescue missions and relief operations, said C. Ravi Shankar (Additional secretary of Disaster Management).
But due to the bad weather and totally damaged roads are delayed the rescue operation in Pithoragarh and Chamoli. However, the locals of the district are doing rescue work all by themselves and helping those in need.
These is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in Haridwar, Pauri, Almora, Nanital, Champawat and udham singh nagar. Dehradun Meteorological Centre has issued an advance warning for 72 hours in these areas.
According to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat the landslides and floods are increasing day by day and is an issue of great concern.
