Today is one of the most unique day in the history of the world, World Post Day which is celebrated each year on 9th October, while the day was first and officially declared in 1969 by the Universal Postal Congress in Tokyo as a mean to mark the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union’s UPU creation in 1874.

As a result, the UPU’s member countries are encouraged to organise their own national activities to celebrate this event while including from the introduction of promotions of new postal services and products to the organisation of all the open days which are at the post offices and main centres or postal museum.
There are a special honour and prize for those who takes participation in the International Letter-writing competition and is given to all the national winners.
The UPU is also known for facilitating the awareness with its World Postal day by designing and distributing the posters across the globe. While in 2016, the UPU has launched a new poster for the time period of 2016 to 2018.
There is no special theme or recommended theme but the three important pillars for the institution is being given in the poster which is Innovation, Integration, and Inclusion.
