This phone will be available to pre-order from blackberry’s online shop in US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Netherlands for $299 (Rs. 20,000 approx). “This is a good marriage of proposition and price point for enterprises,” said John Jackson, an analyst at International Data Corp. This smartphone is hoped to sell in greater numbers than PRIV (first android based smartphone of the company).

The company is calling it the most secure smartphone because they state it will alert user in case anyone tries to remotely operate the camera or microphone, or accesses the phone’s location. No deals were made with any major carrier in US for distribution, it will only be available mostly via Best Buy Co Inc, Inc and BlackBerry’s own online store.

Blackberry which once was a dominant force in the global smartphone now holds just a chunck of the smartphone market. Earlier this month the brand ceased production of its classis handset which used BlackBerry 10 Operating system. Cheif Executive John Chen last month expressed the company can turn a profit by the end of september due to trimmed-down handset bussines.

DTEK supports 5.2 inch touchscreen display with 1080 by 1920 pixels resolution at a PPI of 424 pixel per inch. It measures 147.00 x 72.50 x 7.40 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 135.00 grams. It runs on android and is powered by a 2610 mAh non removable battery. It supports 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and it comes with 3GB of RAM. The phone has 16 GB internal storage which can also be expanded upto 2000GB via a microSD card. BlackBerry DTEK50 has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies. It is a single sim smartphone which supports micro-sim. As far as connectivity is concerned the phone packs Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM and 4G. The new DTEK50 is very reasonabley priced as compared to its previous counterpart, which suffered a drastic surge in demand due to its high price.
