Xiaomi is a privately owned company that designs, develops, and sells smartphones, with Android based OS. Newest addition to the Redmi range of smartphones from Xiaomi was the Redmi 3S, which was launched in China in May 2016. The much awaited launch of Redmi 3S in India comes to an end as the company launched its smartphone on 3rd August, 2016.

The phone comes with a 5.00-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels. The handset is powered by 1.1 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and it has 2 variants first with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory and second with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. Memory of the smartphone can be expanded externally via a microSD card upto 128GB. As far as the camera is concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S packs a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies. It runs on Android 6.0.1 and is powered by a 4100mAh non removable battery. It measures 139.30 x 69.60 x 8.50 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 144.00 grams.

This is a dual SIM smartphone (GSM and GSM) which supports Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM. Connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G, 4G are all included in the smartphone. The phone supports MIUI 7 skin from the brand Xiaomi itself. Except for these, the phone also includes Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope. The Redmi 3S is available in Grey, Silver, and Gold color. Redmi 3S being the successor of Redmi 3 also includes a finger print sensor at the back. Xiaomi has been launching a slew of smartphones in India this year, from the budget friendly Redmi Note 3, to the premium Mi 5, followed by the phablet Mi Max.

The company has indicated it wants to bring more of its products to the country as it looks to expand beyond China, where growth has stalled. In the expected price range of Rs. 10,000-12,000 this phone can bring a lot of customer base towards Xiaomi, as this is yet the best available option right now in market if compared to rest of the handsets available from other brands.
